broken1i
I recently bought a new video card (ati 4890). It requires 2 PCI-E connectors. I had one PCI-E modular cable and used two 4 pin cables to connect the other PCI-E cable. After I turned my computer on, I knew something was wrong immediately. It took a few seconds to power on when it usually turned on instantly. Anyhow, I opened the case to see if anything was lose. After that, the computer never turned on. Two days after this incident I bought a new mobo because I thought that was the problem and I was upgrading anyway. I also bought a psu tester just in case. I looked up tech support and did the paperclip trick with the fan and the fan powered on but very slowly. To be sure I'm going to use the tester. The mobo came in yesterday. I hooked everything up and still nothing. At this point I've almost lost hope. I don't know if I'm confusing you (really bad at explaining things) but I'd really appreciate any help. FEAR6655
Define very slowly. Fans on Corsair PSU's run slow by design.
broken1i
Define very slowly. Fans on Corsair PSU's run slow by design. Slow as in I didn't notice it was spinning until I put the flashlight over it. The paperclip test worked, or that's what the spinning fan indicates, but my computer doesn't turn on. Changed the mobo and parts and nothing. Thanks for responding.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 3, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 3, 2009 Is it possible to try a different PSU or test this PSU in a different system?
broken1i
PSU tester comes in today, I'll update my situation as soon as I can.
FEAR6655
I doubt the PSU tester will tell you anything useful I'm afraid.
broken1i
That is correct, I used the psu tester and everything is A.O.K according to its test. This is puzzling. I got a new motherboard, the psu supposedly works, what can be wrong? >.<
broken1i
Can this post be closed? I kind of figured out the problem. Its really sad what I went through tbh. The Power Switch pins were placed wrong, which makes me wonder if the first mobo was ok. Go ahead, let me have it >_>
