John H
I have a Dell Dimension 4550 with 2.4GHZ P4 533 MHZ, 845PE chipset which I understand is comparable to the Intel D845PESV motherboard. I want to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB. According to the specs, this would require PC2700 memory yet the Corsair configurator's first recomendation is for PC3200. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to one or the other in this instance? VS1GB400C3 Cas Latency=3, VS1GB333 Cas Latency=2.5. Would the VS1GB333 perform better? Corsair is currently offering a $15.00 rebate on both from 9/1-15 which I'd like to take advantage of.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 2, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 2, 2009 You will have to use DDR333 only with a 533 FSB CPU On Dell systems, they will not post with DDR400 installed. I would suggest VS1GB333 as the right module for that system.
