Two TWIN2X1024-8500C5D kits with Asus P5Q Pro

Recommended Posts

I have two Dominator TWIN2x1024-8500C5D kits installed on a Asus P5Q Pro motherboard and they seem to be failing in Memtest. After only a few minutes I get an error at address "000a2d68808". I've read on this forum that I should try increasing the voltages since I have 4 memory cards, so that's what I did. The defaults are 1.8v DRAM, 1.2v FSB Termination, 1.1v NB. I've tried 1.86/1.26/1.16, 1.9/1.28/1.18 and 1.94/1.32/1.22. I get an error at the exact same address - "000a2d68808". Also note that Windows 7 64bits keeps giving BSODs every now and then.

What should I try next? I'm afraid to set higher voltages without some expert advice. Or maybe the memory is defective?

System specs are:

Asus P5Q Pro motherboard (with the latest bios - 2102)

Enermax 525W PRO 82+

2x Dominator TWIN2x1024-8500C5D (two dual channel kits)

Intel Quad Core 2 Q6600

Gainward GeForce 9600GT

All other voltages and memory timings are set to their default (auto).

Oh, and see the attached screen shots.

Thank you in advance!

Well, problem solved, sort of. I tried everything including lowering them to 667mhz. Then I tested them one by one and found out that one of the modules is defective. The address at 278.1MB always gives an error. I also tested it on different slots, same thing. Screen shot attached.

Good thing I have warranty. I'll be returning them soon. Just out of curiosity, isn't it strange to have just one single bit defective?
