jamesdcarroll
I'm 99% sure, but just to confirm... I have 3 sticks of CMX512-2700C2 64X64 333MHZ 512MB CL2 DDR and would like to add two sticks of 1GB TWINX2048-3200C2PT (dropping one of the 512s) for a total of 3GB. According to the MOBO doc I can do this as long I put the same type memory in particular slots. Any reason from a RAM perspective that I can't do this? Thanks,
Wired
Short answer: Don't do it. You can try it, but it'll perform like crap if it's even stable. Long answer: It's never recommended to mix memory of different sizes / speeds / timings / ICs / versions. Too many compatibility issues.
jamesdcarroll
So any idea where I can get a single stick of CMX512-2700C2 64X64 333MHZ 512MB CL2 DDR then?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 2, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 2, 2009 I am sorry but that part has not been produced for more than two years but I would search for it on http://www.pricegrabber.com or http://www.pricewatch.com as a reseller might have some old stock. If not then the only other choice is Ebay but please note anything you purchase off of ebay will not have any warranty on it so make sure the reseller will take it back if it does not work.
