Moog1337
Hi, first time posting here, im trying to find out what the best option would be as far as upgrading my memory on my system. i'm currently running an Asus P5k-E mobo with a TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX 2gb kit and CORE 2 DUO E6750 2.66G (1333Mhz) I'm contemplating buying an additional 4gb of ram. After doing some reading, it seems that it wouldnt be a good idea to combine a 4gb kit with my old 2gb kit? Would that really hurt performance and stability? so if that's the case, i guess i would be better off going for a pc8500 kit instead of pc6400 since i plan to do some overclocking. So i'm looking at the Corsair CMD4GX2M2A1066C5 4 GB Dominator PC2-8500 1066Mhz 240-pin Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit and Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-8500C5C 4 GB PC2-8500 1066mhz 240-pin DDR2 Dual Channel Desktop Memory as seen in these 2 links http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMD4GX2M2A1066C5-Dominator-PC2-8500-1066Mhz/dp/B002JIMVU8/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1251350419&sr=8-22 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-TWIN2X4096-8500C5C-PC2-8500-1066mhz-240-pin/dp/B002CHIFEC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1251350742&sr=8-5 Would i feel a significant benefit with the dominator series and is it worth upgrading to a higher speed? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 27, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 27, 2009 Either set would be a good choice for that system especially if you want to over clock.
Moog1337
so was i correct in saying that using my old ram in conjunction with the new one would slow it down? so im practically limited to 4 gigs of ram?

Most likely, you will not be able to OC as well with 4 modules as you will with 2. But, the only way to know for sure is to install and test as it can vary across individual systems.
