rapoon
Hello, I just purchased this kit today. Took it home, installed both modules, changed speed, timing and voltage = instant crash. I have done the following things. -updated the bios - Tried "Auto" settings and manual timings (which oddly enough are the exact same). - tested both modules together = Crash (at 1066) & memtest error - Tested each module individually = one NO errors and other recieved errors immediately in Memtest. - adjust settings to auto and tried manually changed timings for each module = no change, same errors for bad module. other module works perfect. - tested each module in different ram slot = exact same results. 1 module works perfectly, other = errors. Please advise on the RMA process for exchanging the defective module. Thank You, Rapoon

rapoon
Hi guys. Encountering some strange behavior with my memory and board. Please read. With my E7200 processor running at stock speeds (266 x 9.5), I am able to manually change the memory to 1066MHz with no problems. The memory runs perfectly. However, upon overclocking, I encountered strange behavior. When I change the fsb to 320, 1066Mhz becomes selectable again. Anything inbetween 266 - 320 = no 1066Mhz. However, the system crashes and memtest reports errors immediately. Oddly enough, If I change the fsb to 355 and leave the DRAM frequency setting on Auto, the memory is set at 1066 (via whatever divider the board uses. I presume 2/3). At 355, I have no problems at all. Memtest shows no errors. Orthos shows no errors. I can run both for 5+ hours with no problems. Does anyone know why setting the memory to 1066MHz at 320 fsb will not work but a much higher fsb of 355 and a memory setting of "auto" works with no problems at all?? It just seems really strange because at both speeds (320 or 355), my memory is well within its limits. Thanks, Rapoon

That is a limitation of the chipset and you may not be able to run the memory faster than the CPU FSB. If you are going to over clock your CPU it would be best to set the memory to DDR667 or DDR800 Manually and then over clock the CPU
