16GB Flash Voyager

Recommended Posts

Last week I bought a flash voyager 32gb from ebuyer in the uk.

I have been using the drive in my Mac but went to delete some files and I get a permissions error.

I have tried to format with SD-CARD Organization in a PC but the program tells me the drive is write protected and it can not perform the action.

Is there a way to remove the write-protection?

There are a number of sensitive files on the drive that need to be removed .. I can not even RMA the drive with these files on it. Please advise.

We can replace the drive for you, however we do not offer any type of data recovery software or services. If the data is important then you may want to review the article here: http://www.corsair.com/_appnotes/AN803_CommonIssues_HelpfulTips_DLoss_DCorruption.pdf. for some data recovery advise. You may also want to check out websites such as http://www.download.com and http://www.softpedia.com and search for "USB Data Recovery," to see if you can find some freeware/shareware that may help you recover the data. If all else fails then you may need to contact a local data recovery service center to find out if the data is recoverable.

Hello Ram Guy,

Thanks for your reply but i think you mis-understand the issue.

I have copies of all the data which is on the drive, however, I need to delete any data before RMA'ing the drive. I can not send this drive out with the data still on it .. especially as the data is still readable. It is commercially sensitive information

So, I need to either format the drive or otherwise remove the data before it is RMA'd.
