Motherboard wont Boot from time to time

Recommended Posts

My system ran fine for like 4 months. Then suddenly the motherboard did'nt

start anymore (No post/No Signal). After some testing it became clear that it would start with some other Ram. But as I reinserted the old Cm2X modules, the mobo started fine too. It seems that the reinserting of the modules would be the solution to the starting problem of the P5Q. Eversince i got no problems at all.

I would really like to know the technical cause for this problem.

Is there any Explanation?

Would it be a good advice to rma the modules?

Thank you in advance!

sorry for misspelling etc.

Did you try them at DDR667? And if it will not post with all four installed there may be some issue with the MB if all of the modules run and pass http://www.memtest.org one up.

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
