clamchowder
Hi I want to overclock my CPU 920 well above 4.0Ghz. I saw 6GB DDR1600 TR3X6G1600C7D G on one of the vendors. I'm thinking of getting two sets of these to make it 12GB. 1) How well do these 12GB in memory overclock compared to the other Dominator models? 2) what's the real world speed differences compared to say TR3X6G1600C8 G? 3) if I want to overclock 12GB of RAM, is it better to buy the one 12GB set such as HX3X12G1600C9 G? Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 25, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 25, 2009 If you want 12 Gig you should get the 12 Gig set and with all six slots filled you will not have much head room to over clock.
clamchowder
Can I order two sets of 6GB just in case things go wrong? At least I would have one working set to play with while the others are being RMAed.
Wired
They can't guarantee compatibility between 2 kits as they simply haven't been tested together. You could get 2 kits with different ICs, and they may not play well with each other.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 27, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 27, 2009 If you do get two set the next lower speed grade would be suggested.
