hardgamer508
So I tried plugging in my sound card and pluggged a connector in it but I guess I might have done it wrong and so it got burnt and so did the cable that connects to the power supply. So I cut that connector off and used electrical tape to cover the wires. Is that alrite, and does it present a hazard to me. I am not plugging that line of connectors into anything currently
Wired
Which power supply do you have?

eddy_damas
I have a similar problem. one of the sata connectors got burned on my 750 watt Corsair PSU. I didn't tape it up, because only a small part of the connector got melted off (the part that was connected to the hard drive) but I was able to salvage the pieces of the connector that snapped together and put it back...still. like hardgamer, I want to know if I don't connect that cable if I will be ok... Wired
hardgamer: I believe you've just voided the warranty of your PSU by cutting the cable of your TX650W. eddy: is that an HX750W or a TX750W? Guys, cutting cables is NEVER a good idea, nor is using cables that have been damaged in any way.
eddy_damas
Wired, It's a TX750W. I'm neither cutting cables nor am I about to plug in that particular cable. I'm even considering shipping the PSU back to Corsair to see if maybe they can either repair or replace it. But since the Terms of Agreement state that they are not responsible for any damage caused by fire, I'm not sure they will do anything on their end? So if I don't plug in that cable, will I be ok?
Yellowbeard
The official Corsair statement is this: We do not recommend using any PSU that is damaged or modified in any way. The unit should not be used any longer and should be replaced.
