steelpaw
Got my X128 today and installed Win 7 x64 build 7100. Immeditely noticed freezes of the whole system, lasting a few seconds. This freeze appears all the time, with maybe 10-20 seconds between. Ran HDBENCH, and an old 250Gb hard drive is five times faster on write ops. (47M vs 9M for SSD) Slower on read by a factor 3,5. (48M vs 179 for SSD) Ran the test again, and the SSD performed as it should. (Read 168M, write 142M) A third time gave Read 160M, Write 8,2M What's upp with this freeze, it's unusable in its current state. Do I have to send it back? /Steelpaw

steelpaw
Thanks for your reply. I will return this PoS tomorrow and exchange it for an Intel disk instead. For the life of me I can't understand how products like these can be released to the public, the abhorrent flaws are immediately apparent. /Steelpaw

penniwise
I actually just bought this drive for my Dell M2400. I installed Win 7 Enterprise on it. I've been running with it for a few days now without any problems. I'll get some benchmark software and run it a few times to see if I get results like this but so far it's working very well. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 20, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 20, 2009 steelpaw that sounds like some other issue can you test the drive on another system?
erivera83
I installed the X32 and tried using Win7 both 32 and 64 bit. Both would stutter and ultimately freeze the system. I decided to try re-installing vista even though it would take up a lot more of the drive and so far, it has been very stable. Not sure why win7 does not work, but that must be the problem. penniwise
The benchmarks I ran were ~170 read ~130 write. I ran it multiple times and I do not see inconsistancies. Windows 7 enterprise (x86) is running very quickly on my Precision M2400 for about a week now. One thing I did notice was the read/write for 4k files was ~20 read ~20 write. I'm not totally clear on what that all means but like I said the OS and apps are running great and I use the notebook all day long. I was planning on getting 2 more of these (x128) for a couple of customers of mine in the next few weeks but some of the posts here worry me a bit. Maybe I should get them another brand? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 21, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 21, 2009 I have not seen any problems with these using Windows 7 on any system I have tried. But I would suspect the controller is setting something, do you have any options you can change in the BIOS for the controller? If so set it to IDE or compatibility mode.
