dd717
My new P4P800 board has dual channel memory slots which I am not familiar with. Can you tell me the very best options to populate these slots to my best advantage? I.E. 4 identical memory chips or 2 matching sets of dual channel memory and if dual channel is better how should they be installed. I only plan on playing Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Photoshop Editing and adding a Hauppage Video card so I can turn old VHS tapes Digital. Wired
So are you saying that you want to use 4 sticks with your motherboard? If so, yes it is best to buy all 4 sticks in the same pack. Are you looking to purchase Corsair memory? If so, check out the Memory Finder in the sidebar.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 19, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 19, 2009 I would suggest just using two one gig modules for best performance that chipset you have will not see more than about 2.8-3.6 Gig of memory depending on how much memory is on your Video card and with all four slots filled you may have to run the memory at DDR333 to keep the system stable. dd717
Hello, I am wondering why so many companes tell me that 400 Ram should be used in a P4P800 board with a 3.4GHz processor, can you tell me why the 400 will be unstable? Why 333 will not and whyeven Asus recommends 4X1GB 400 DDR memory? I also only plan to use a GeForce4 MX440. Thanks Danny
Wired
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=DYt1Et9MlBChqzLb&templete=2 DDR 400 (800 mhz) is the max your board can take, hence why it's the highest recommended. 4 x 1 GB because that's the most memory it can take. Why would you think 400 would be unstable?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 20, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 20, 2009 Yes with 4 modules installed it was common to have to run the memory at DDR333.
dd717
So if I plan to use 4 X 1GB Chips then it would be wiser to choose PC2700 Ram?????
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 25, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 25, 2009 No what ever modules you use if you use two sets of Twins the next slower speed grade would be suggested.
dd717
To clarify, if I want to instal 4 X 1GB Ram using 2 sets of Dual Channel, then using 333Mhz Ram is recommended over 4 chips of 400Mhz Ram?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 26, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 26, 2009 If you use DDR333 memory then DDR266 would be suggested with 4 modules If you use DDR400 memory then DDR333 would be suggested with 4 modules when using two twin sets. The only way 4 up configurations would be supported would be if you purchase one of the Quad sets. And I am sorry but we have never offered quad DDR1 sets. Wired
If you are using 4 sticks that are rated at 333 Mhz, run them at 266 Mhz due to the load on the memory controller. If you are using 4 sticks that are rated at 400 Mhz, run them at 333 Mhz due to the load on the memory controller. They cannot guarantee the rated stick of a pair when running with another pair as they were not tested together. They have never sold 4 DDR1 sticks in a pack.
