Swag51
I have a corsair hx1000 power supply and I have a evga x58 classified, and two GTX 285's going into my new system. The motherboard requires two 8-pin plugs is there a necessary spot for the second plug to be plugged into the power supply as in does it have to be on the same 12 volt rail as the first 8-pin? Second with those two GTX 285's it will require four pci express 6-pin connectors, would using three modular pci express connectors and one hard wired be ok, or use two modular and use two hard wired connectors? Thanks in advance.

Why not just use 4 modular ones? Either way it doesn't matter, any configuration should work.
Swag51
Doesnt the second 8-pin cpu plug take up one of the pci-express connectors slots?
PeterFazekas
No. The 8-pin EPS connector is not the same as an 8-pin PCI-Express one. On the HX1000W you get 2 8-pin (4+4) EPS connectors for the motherboard, 2 hardwired 6+2 PCI-E, and 4 modular 6+2 PCI-E.

There is another cable in my bag marked EPS 12V my question; it does plug into one of the blue sockets on the power supply correct and which rail should it go on?
