jacob weber
Hello. I am desperately trying to figure out what replacement coolant would be safe, and effective for my CWC 100-1001 cooling system. Would thermaltake coolant work? I am wanting to switch coolant color too to blue. from the corsair green. THanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 17, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 17, 2009 You will want to use a Propylene Glycol anti-freeze which should be available at most hardware and auto stores. Sierra's environmentally friendly anti-freeze would do the trick. http://www.sierraantifreeze.com/index.html
PeterFazekas
^That alone, or mixed with distilled h2o?
jacob weber
Is there any difference between the off the shelf PC coolant, like thermaltake? Will any of these hurt my system? I read somewhere to not mix them, because certain systems didnt have as good of a copper surface.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 19, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 19, 2009 You would want to mix it with distilled water, in about a 25/75 to 50/50 coolant to water mixture. We have not tested Thermaltake's coolant in our system, but I would suspect they use something very similar to us.
jacob weber
Im just trying to figure out if there is any replacement coolant that is off the shelf, compatible with corsair system, easy to use, tested by corsair (if possible) and wont damage the corsair cwc100-1001 system. If corsair makes it, I will buy it, but I am also looking for a blue colored coolant to match my blue case lighting. Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 20, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 20, 2009 We have used the Sierra Anti-freeze, but anything that is based off of propylene glycol should be fine. The reason why we use the propylene glycol is because it is less toxic than ethylene glycol. I am not familiar enough with the Thermaltake coolant to be able to guarantee anything, but I would suspect that they use something similar.
