gellio
Hi, I have a striker extreme motherboard with 4 1GB sticks of Dominator RAM. I've been having trouble with my system and with much investigation have determined that 1 of the 4 sticks of RAM is very very unhappy. So, I've decided to replace one of the pairs. My question is this. I will still have 2 1GB sticks of the onld RAM and I'm considering adding 2 moresticks, but of 2 GB each (since its only about £20 more than the 1 GB sticks these days) to give me a total of 6GB. Will it work in DDR2 mode with this configuration, can I have different RAM sizes in the different channels. Are there any issues with doing that. Cheers,
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 14, 2009 I would not suggest mixing memory it would be best to just use the 4 Gig set, but if you do add 2 more modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
