ib092496
I built a PC for a buddy a few months back, using, among other things, the above PSU. The PC would test out fine, work fine for a couple of months and then suddenly go off with smoke coming out of the PSU. I had the PSU RMA'd once and the same thing happened. I ended up buying him a 650W Antec EW, re-seating all the parts and rewiring the case and components. I stress tested the system and everything checks out. Here are some vague specs: Antec P183 case Gigabyte MB Intel C2D E7300 4GB DDR800 SDRAM 250GB SATA2 HDD SATA DVD burner 1GB ATI 4870 video card I tried testing the Corsair PSU and right after turning it on my lights flashed and it started smoking. I've built hundreds of PCs (literally) and have never seen anything quite like this. I can't imagine the above components overloading a good 650W PSU. What's going on here? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 19, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 19, 2009 Our 650TX is definitely sufficient for your setup. As having two 650TXs went bad, I would say it is really rare as the return rate on this part is merely 1%. please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
