With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Hello RAMGUY,

if i need to down the frequency to 667 or 800 to work with my Dominator 1066...

Isn't the same thing if i buy the memory 4 x DDR2 2GB DDR667 (PC2-5300) - CORSAIR Value Select (8GB total) - this one don't need any customized configuration - or DDR2 8GB [2GBx4] DDR800 (PC2-6400) - CORSAIR DHX [Q2X8G6400C4DHX], and with the last one DDR2 800(i read that we need also to do some adjjusts in frequency)?...

What will be the difference of performance if the Dominator 1066 only works in 667 or 800 and the same thing for the DDR800 (PC2-6400) - CORSAIR DHX if to works needs also to down the frequency to 667?...

Wich of these 3 memory types will be more performer in my config.

2GBx4 DDR2 DDR667 (PC2-5300) - CORSAIR Value Select

2GBx4 DDR2 DDR800 (PC2-6400) - CORSAIR DHX [Q2X8G6400C4DHX]

2GBx4 DDR2 DDR1066 (PC2-8500) - CORSAIR Dominator DHX [TWIN2X4096-8500C5D]

and finaly what it mean's DDR2 Voltage control: 2.20V Ver 1.x (2.1 Volts for 2.X), where i get the Version? Version of wath(memory, bios...?)?

Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for my english.

The memory frequency you have to run them at will be based on the MB and CPU, and with the MB in your list DDR667 would be suggested with 4 modules, however DDR800 may be possible with 4 modules using the settings I gave you and I am sorry I do not understand the rest of your question other than to say the Module version and Voltage is printed on every module.

Wich of these 3 memory types will be more performer in my config?

2GBx4 DDR2 DDR667 (PC2-5300) - CORSAIR Value Select

2GBx4 DDR2 DDR800 (PC2-6400) - CORSAIR DHX [Q2X8G6400C4DHX]

2GBx4 DDR2 DDR1066 (PC2-8500) - CORSAIR Dominator DHX [TWIN2X4096-8500C5D]

Why Buy 1066 if you need to down the frequency to 800 or 667?

Why Buy 800 if you need to down the frequency to 667?

What i will gain in performance if i put Dominator 1066(needed to down frequency to 667 to works) instead of simple module Corsair Value Select 667.

I hope to be clear this time.

Thanks.

Hello RAM Guy

I'm a rich media developer.

I work with Flex, Flash, 3ds Max, After Effects.

Many times i need to manage a lot of images(Video, RAW, Render 3D, etc....) in the same time, and with 4gb the ressources of the machine is poor for this stuff.

I need 8gb to get more performance to open and manage video composition in After Effects, 3D Modeling and render, and be able to use photoshop with many large images.

Thanks.

What advantages i will have if i buy a dominator 1066 (PRICE: CHF 263.60) but use in 667 or 4x2 gb ddr2 800 CORSAIR DHX [Q2X8G6400C4DHX] but also use in 667 (PRICE: CHF 180.10 );

Isn't Better buy directly 4x2GB DDR2 DDR667 (PC2-5300) - CORSAIR Value Select [VS2GB667D2G] (PRICE: CHF 170.00);

You understand now?

Why pay more? Pay for what?

Pay to use the same frequency that i already have, to have more incompatibility?

What benefits i will have in these 3 types?

4X 2GB 1066 DOMINATOR - CHF 263.60

4X 2GB 800 CORSAIR DHX [Q2X8G6400C4DHX] - CHF 180.10

4X 2GB 667 CORSAIR Value Select [VS2GB667D2G] - CHF 170.00

I want to build other machine with almost the same config, but with a fire GL Graphic card instead GTS 250, i have everything already, but i still not purchase the memories modules, and i dont know what memory to buy without problems of incompatibility.

I already purchase

4X 2GB 1066 DOMINATOR

CHF 263.60 for

what i will get in performance instead

4X 2GB 800 CORSAIR DHX [Q2X8G6400C4DHX]

CHF 180.10

or

4X 2GB 667 CORSAIR Value Select [VS2GB667D2G] - CHF 170.00

CHF 170.00

Wich one is the better choice for my config in P5Q Deluxe?

At moment i'm using

4X 1GB 667 CORSAIR Value Select - 4GB in total

no problem with these 4 modules.

but i used for some time

4X 2GB 1066 DOMINATOR

and then they block the system after i adjust the voltade to 2.1 they continue, i did't try down the frequency to 667, i will, i want to use 8GB.

I'm waiting for one definitve answer to re-change the actual memories modules to Dominator 1066 and adjust all those configs that you post before.

but if you tell me that is better get 4x2GB ddr2 667 why purchase these memories Dominator 1066? Why we can't use them in full operation speed frquency?

Wich memory is the better choice for P5Q Deluxe to obtain the better performance with 4 modules 2GB?

Thank you very much for your time and sorry for my english.

Only QUAD kits are guaranteed to run at their rated speed when running 4 sticks because they're sold that way. 2 stick packs aren't.

Ultimately the more sticks you put in, the greater the load on the memory controller. Getting sticks that are guaranteed to work together will eliminate the possibility that the memory is the limiting factor.

Hello Ram Guy

I purchase the 8 Gig then Q2X8G6400C4DHX.

I'm waiting that they arrives to put them.

about the post

"Only QUAD kits are guaranteed to run at their rated speed when running 4 sticks because they're sold that way. 2 stick packs aren't.

"

For the moment can i use only two modules 2X 2GB 1066 DOMINATOR (4GB in total and are sold like a unique pack) with full memory speed adjusts to 1066? It works?

Thanks?

With all four modules installed go to BIOS setup and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB Voltage to +.2 Volts over default and set the timings manually to Cas 4-4-4-12 and you should be good to go.
