HornyRhino
hi, im new to this forum so be gentle :p: i have just finished buying my parts for a new system build but just wanted to verify after looking at one of the GPU boxes if the hx1000 can handle triple sli of the evga gtx285 ssc (or ftw) editions? i have looked through the forum and found one or two Threads about the psu being designed to distribute the power like 2x 500w which basily makes me want to find out even more urgently as the evga GPU box states a Minimum of a 550 Watt power supply and Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 40 Amps (per card that is) . i know the psu is high grade as stated in another thread and i know these sort of guidlines are in place in case you use a lower quility psu but at 40amps:confused: i cant see this psu working with more than 2 and thats at breaking point..... please please tell me im okay and theres nothing to worry about when using all 3 cards in tri sli :sigh!:.... kind regards, HRhino"

HornyRhino
thanks, just thought id check, better safe than sorry as i was worried that the 3 cards would exceed the ampage that the psu could give out. 3 cards needing upto 40amps each is a lot:(: although how much combined i dont know as reviews only ever state there power usage never ampages. regards. FEAR6655
40 amps is what the PSU is required to supply for the WHOLE PC, the card itself uses less than 15 amps. So in the worst case scenario all 3 cards will be drawing a combined MAX of 40A, leaving another 40A for the rest of the system.
