eman_5467
Hi! I would like to buy 3 sticks of 2 gigs (6 gig total) of ram for my computer. On the memory configurator, it only shows 4 gigs of ram. My motherboard has 4 slots, so why doesnt it show more ram? The motherboard specs says it can run up to 8 gigs. Anyway, I don't mind if the ram runs a little slower if I can throw in 6 gigs. I use this computer for gaming. I just updated my current system specs. I have only 2 gigs on my rig at the moment, and there are times when I notice a slowdown due to vista using 1 gig of ram, and I only have 1 gig of usable ram for applications/games. Could you please suggest the choices of 3 sticks I could buy? Thanks for your help!
Wired
Why do you want to run 3 sticks on a dual channel system? It's best if you stick with 2/4 sticks. Your best bet is to replace what you have with a 4 GB kit (unless you're doing something REALLY intensive that needs 8 GB of course). Also, do you currently have TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF(IN) or TW3X2G1800C7DFNV?
eman_5467
This is everything that is on the label of both memory sticks: CM3X1024-1800CD7 XMS3-1800 1024mb 1800mhz 7-7-7-20 2.00v ver3.1 08040832 However, I just looked up my receipt from when I bought it and this is what it says: TWIN3x20481800C7DFG Would you suggest buying another 2 of the same ram? Will there be any problems running the system with all 4 banks filled? I built this rig around 1 year ago and I seem to remember that there may have been a problem with running the system with more than 2 banks filled. Its been a while, so I don't really remember. Please let me know what you think. Thanks for your help!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 10, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 10, 2009 I would suggest you replace the memory you have now with a 4 Gig set, if you add to what you have now you may be limited to DDR1066 or DDR1333 depending on the CPU and MB you have.
