Vanguard
Hello Folks, I have a new build that is running well with the exception of the memory settings. CPU of course runs well overclocked, but for purposes of the memory work I have all bios settings at default with the exception of the memory setting in question. Any attempt to boot at a memory speed beyond "Automatic" 1333mhz 9,9,9,24 results in no post. Have tried the 1866 profile & various settings including voltages up to 1.66 & 1.6 to no avail. Guess I need some help please.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 8, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 8, 2009 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS version then load setup defaults and enable XMP Profile one then set the memory frequency to DDR1600 and see if it will post and be stable then check the Stepping of your CPU if its a (DO) you will need to lower the QPI Voltage and if its another version I would try and increase it to 1.7 Volts. Vanguard
Flashing the BIOS seemed to have helped. The system will now occasionally boot with the memory running at 1866, however, it will randomly fail & restart windows during boot. All seems stable at 1600, 1.55 volts. The Processor is a D0 stepping, so max is 1.60 volts correct? Any further suggestions?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 10, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 10, 2009 The max memory Voltage would be 1.65 Volts and I would lower the QPI Voltage to 1.35-1.4 Volts and see if that helps the (D0) Stepping CPU do not seem to like high QPI Voltage. Vanguard
Lowering the QPI voltage has done the trick. FYI clearly the ROM specs on the memory will not function as expected with this hardware. Thank you!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 14, 2009 No as I explained it is the CPU that does not like the Voltage that is set. And as you have found setting like I suggested seems to have solved the issue correct???
Vanguard
Yes the suggested setting change has resolved the issue. For clarities sake for the benifit of future builders, I first set the memory "over-ride" to the ROM profile to aquire the timing/latency settings then selected "manual" then changed the QPI voltage from 1.55 volts to 1.40 volts. Thanks again!
