Question Regarding Pin 8 of 24 pin Connector

Hey RAMGUY,

I was wondering if you could tell me what the correct voltage reading should be on pin 8 power_ok line of the 24 pin connector. It should be the gray wire that I am referring to.

When I disconnect the 24 pin connector from the motherboard and take a voltage reading at pin 8 (during psu functionality test) I get a voltage reading of 5.05 volts. Now when I reconnect the 24 pin connector to the motherboard and take a voltage reading at pin 8 the voltage reading dropped to 3.79 volts.

All other voltage lines like the 12,5, and 3 volts are within specs whether disconnected or connected to the motherboard.

Is this normal for pin 8 to drop like that? Or is it an indication that something is wrong?

Thanks,

The yellow wire should read between 11.4 ~12.6v. I would suggest you to connect the 24 pin and power on the system to measure the 8pin as the readout may be a lot lower if the system is not putting any load on the PSU.
