Spork13
Running win 7 RC and no joy getting memtest 86 to work. I'm assuming this is because it only works for 32 bit. Is this assumption correct? What prog can I use to stress test 4g of RAM with a 64 bit OS?
Synthohol
holy cow, look to the left and click on "How to run Memtest86+" the app must by booted into, you cant run it after you boot into windows. in case you dont see the box with all the links, http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38201
Wired
In otherwords, you use a boot device to run memtest86+ outside of an operating system.
Spork13
/blushes. Thankyou. (still blushing)... edit In my defence... http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html Is this the same, or is it a completly different windows utility that stole the name? edit II - seems it is completly different. Thanks Ram Guy for pointing out that any windows based stabillity testing can only be as stable as the OS... Burnt the real memtest and ran 20+ passes with zero errors where the windows based imposter reported 2 errors in 1 pass... DL the real memtest, burning an ISO cd, and changing BIOS to boot from CD took only a minute or 2, way less time than reading the guide took... I think you could/should simplify the "How To..." because it seemed complex at first to a n00b like me...
