skaflux
I wanted to upgrade to 8GB and purchased 2 sets of TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX (4 sticks total). I set the timings manually, 4-4-4-12 and Voltage at 2.1v @ 800mhz. - This causes Memtest (with all 4 sticks at the same time) test 8 to fail about 5 times per pass . If I increase the voltage to 2.15v - I get only about 1 error per memtest pass. If i increase voltage to 2.2v - I get no errors after multiple passes. I've seen posts about the max voltage being 2.1v but Is it ok to run them at 2.2v if I can achieve the advertised timings @ 800Mhz? If not, what else could I try? Thanks! Sapphire
You have to keep in mind that 800Mhz is only advertised as the tested speed for two modules, using an additional two (like in your case) will put extra strain on the memory controller and require you to drop the speed if you are using more than two modules. To achieve stable 800Mhz, you are required to increase the voltage because it is in fact an overclock. Try stock voltages but running the memory at 667 instead of 800 and you should be able to pass Memtest without errors.
