madrooster
Hi All, Is it possible on an i7 920 and a Gigabyte X58 to run the 1866 ram (TR3X6G1866C9DF) with the QPI (4.8GT/sec) and CPU (2.66GHz) freqs at stock and the ram at its full 1866 speed? Can up the QPI/RAM voltages as needed.
Wired
Please read the stickys, specifically: Core I7 MB Settings By X58 MB
madrooster
No I am asking if I can run it at stock, because the uncore is apparently meant to be slower or equal to the QPI speed. Furthermore the uncore is 2x the ram speed. At 1866mhz, the QPI (and uncore) would need to be 3733mhz to satisfy, which means I'd need to raise my BCLK since the x48 QPI multiplier gives 6.4GT/sec QPI, which is 3200mhz. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 28, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 28, 2009 Please see the sticky Wired linked you to and no I do not think you can get the memory at DDR1866 with out over clocking the CPU it will just not work out! You might get DDR1600 but above that the CPU will have to be over clocked.
