Gogoune Posted July 26, 2009 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Hi,okie here my storie i decided to buy another set of ram to get to 8gb my first set (v1.1) work perfectly, recive my second set used it started to get some issue.. one day comp woulnd boot at all so i sended the new kit to corsair, they sended me a new kit v2.1 same as the previous defective one. Installed it, comp runned fine for about 2week.Tought these issue where caused by the 4 stick so i putted my new stick in the same slot i used to use my old set v1.1,comp start up fine i run a quick everest stability test everything seem fine.Was browsing the web for about 45min suddenly IE crash close it and started another stability test this time the test stopped right at the start and i had a warning : Hardware Failure.Runned memtest right after the IE crash,soon as i start memtest i get **** load of error. So i put back my old set v1.1 used comp played game .. no issue.Later i decided to test the v2.1 stick, done 3 pass each with no error at all.Am a little bite confuse it seem if i get a error (game crash,app crash..) and i run memtest after i get error. There something that make the stick go bad and after a bite of rest stick seem to pass memtest still have lot of issue when i try to game ... so i dont know what to do, stick are good or not. Already made request for rma but i want to be sure the stick have issue and i dont want another defective set cost me about 30$ every time i ship them if i can avoid to pay it.Any advise is welcome Thank !! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 28, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 28, 2009 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Gogoune Posted July 28, 2009 Author Share Posted July 28, 2009 Issue happening with only 2 stick the v2.1 seem to have issue i tryed to run at 800,run with 3stick everytime there something that crash when i have v2.1.My other kit v1.1 run flawless.When i was browsing the web and ie crashed i was only using 2stick v2.1.
