I just put together a new system. The problem I have is that the RAM is running at 1064Mhz and at 8-8-8-19 timming. I tried looking into the BIOS to set it to XMP but I did not see that option. The only options are either manual or Auto. Any would help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe I am doing something wrong but the only place I see to edit the memory options are under performance and there are no profiles listed. Only auto or manual. I can change the timmings through the intel desktop software but I cannot do anything about the speed.

Ok, I tried using that other thread as a reference guide. I got the speed up to 1600 but then the computer will not post unless I go into the BIOS and change it back. Does anyone have the values I can put in to get this working. I have serached everywhere and cannot find the information I need. Thanks.

Core i7-920 and 940 processors have a maximum memory speed of 1066MHz that motherboard makers haven't yet found a way to circumvent, but the 965 Extreme is free to use multipliers that run its memory bus at 1333, 1600, 1866, and even 2133MHz.

you cannot run the ram faster than 1066 unless you overclock the CPU to 1600FSB as well.

i wish you luck with that.

well its more along the lines of the memory controller not accepting a higher than 1066 memory bus speed according to the link.

Although these units are factory-configured for 1333 MHz integrated memory controller

frequency, Intel does not support operation beyond 1066 MHz; however, this processor

has additional support to override the integrated memory controller frequency.
