shakerz
Hi, I'm building a workstion/gaming PC and I was wondering if the i7-920 CPU (overclocked to about 3Ghz) work well with the HX3X12G1600C9 12GB pack? The motherboard I'm going to use is a Asus Rampage II Extreme. Also I wont need the 12 GB very often (only when I need to run multiple virtual machines) so will I get noticeable better performance when gaming if I get a TR3X6G1600C7D kit instead? Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 23, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 23, 2009 What O.S. are you going to use? If you will use a 64 Bit O.S. then the 12 Gig kit would be the way to go! And no matter if its 6 or 12 Gig itwill not have much if any effect. But for sure if you want 6 modules the 12 Gig set is the only way you should go! shakerz
I'm going to use Windows 7 (64-bit) and Ubuntu 9.04 (64-bit). So I think I'll be going for the 12GB kit.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 24, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 24, 2009 Then I would suggest using the 12 Gig Kit for best over all performance.
