Asus Striker II Extreme & TW3X4G1600C9DHX

Hi, is there anyone here who has stable settings on this board with the same memory? Ive found a few threads but none have given a working conclusion or any helpfull info I havent tried.

Basically I decided to change my stable setup to go DDR3, changing the motherboard to an "Asus striker II exteme" and using the store's Corsair Configurator I chose a pack of TW3X4G1600C9DHX, since its was "Guaranteed-Compatible Memory for your Asus Striker II Extreme."

So far I cannot myself get a stable system using recommended/default settings. Any blue screen on vista64 seems to render the whole install useless and need a complete reinstall. So far I have installed xp32 today (which sucks with buying 4GB of ram but at least it works) with most updates going fine until another blue screen which I could only counter by booting into safe mode and restoring.

Install Details:

Upon installation I changed the usual timings/voltage and manually set the memory to its rated speed via unlinked (9-9-9-24@1.8v,1600mhz). All seems well, saved, reboots, now to install vista64. Initial install works out, goes to load the OS for the second part but fails with a blue screen on the windows load screen. Install is therefore corrupt, promting for a reinstall on the next boot.

This time I relaxed the memory clock, going for 1333mhz which I had read was more stable, also upping the NB voltage slightly. This time, OS Installs fine, starts up and seems great between windows update installs and reboots. It then started to blue screen on the windows boot screen (SYSTEM_EXIT_OWNED_MUTEX - memory I believe?) and would not boot at all with even completely default settings for the memory.

The same settings seem to be working ok on XP32 with the exception of the one blue screen I managed to work around after trying to install the x-fi card drivers (never had OS crippling ones before though). But I'd rather be able to use my vista64 after buying the 4GB of corsair. Am I wasting my time or can this work? I've spent two days reinstalling windows/updates etc, its not much fun. Never had so much trouble with new components...

Extra Info:

Memtest - no errors, 2 passes

Everest Ultimate, Stress Test - fine on XP32

Bios - 1203 04/02/2009 (latest, although website hasnt caught up it seems)

CPU-Z - http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=614252

Cheers,

lutt.
