DriveALW
Hi, I was told the corsair kit: VS1GBKIT400 PC3200 would work in my machine, but I just wanted to confirm this before I get it. I have a Dell 8300 at 3.2 gHz with a 800mHz FSB. Also, if it *is* compatible, is there any need to remove the 256 mB of RAM that came with the system, or can I leave it in? Thanks, DriveALW

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2004 Yes, and yes! If you want to add to what you have now you would need to match it both speed and spd settings. I would suggest just our modules for best performance! DriveALW
thanks for the reply, but, to clarify, does that mean "yes, I should take out the old RAM?" or, "yes, it's okay to leave it in?" thanks again, DriveALW
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2004 Yes and No! Sorry! Do not mix the memory, other wise your system may only run at DDR333.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2004 NO, he cannot or should not mix memory in an OEM system. If you want to add to what you have you would or should match it for best compatibility. Other wise just use our modules: ONLY!
Wired
I stand corrected! :) I've deleted my post as to prevent confusion, and as he hasn't been back since I posted it and then summarily deleted it, it's all good :)
DriveALW
Okay, I have installed *ONLY*the corsair memory, but my system just beeps six times and won't load or show any video signal. I made sure it's seated correctly, but I don't know what else to do! Can you help me out?
