Want to upgrade to 3 or 4 GB of memory

Recommended Posts

The configurator on the Corsair site does not list the model of the Dell Precision that I have; however the configurator on the NewEgg site shows that I can use:

Corsair 1GB 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Desktop Memory Model VS1GB533D2

However I want validation from Corsair that this is accurate since the 370 is NOT listed in the configurator.

I have 4 slots; one with 512; 2 with 256; 1 empty; so seems I have 2 options:

(A) replace all current modules with 4 of the above giving me 4 GB of memory.

(B) retain the 512; dispense with the 2x256 modules and install 3 of the above giving me 3.5GB.

I have no idea how to assess the revision issue which I wasn't even aware of until reading through this forum.

Which option is viable or optimal? or is neither since my Dell Precision 370 is not listed?
