McGeeZy
I just purchased the CMPSU-650TX to use on a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 mobo that my brother recently gave me due to him upgrading. It worked perfectly fine on his PS that he kept. I installed the 650TX and turned on the power and got short continuous beeps which is the power error code, as stated in the mobo manual, then it shuts down and repeats. I did the paperclip test as suggested and the PS fan runs so I doubt the PS is DOA. I'm guessing this PS isn't compatible with this mobo? I've also tried clearing the CMOS and that didn't help. Please advise.
FEAR6655
Did you plug in both the 24 pin main connector AND the 4 pin supplimentary connector to the motherboard? If so, try reseating the connections.

If so, try reseating the connections. Thanks for your reply... Yes, I did indeed do that several times. I disconnected and reconnected making sure the clips were fully locked in place. I have the 4 pin supp. connected as well. I don't know what could be causing this :[pouts:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 9, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 9, 2009 We actually had the same board here a while back and didn't have any problem at all. I would suggest you to take the motherboard out and place it on a non-conductive surface and see if you can replicate this issue with just the motherboard and PSU. Yes, no CPU, video card, RAM, and etc.

Yes, no CPU, video card, RAM, and etc. I did as instructed and the power supply fan was running & staying on. So is it safe to assume there is nothing wrong with the power supply if the fan runs? I decided to put the CPU w/ heatsink & fan, and 1 stick of RAM only (no graphic card, no drives, etc.) and I'm back to square one. It won't boot or stay running. What would cause a perfectly fine MoBo start acting up, reporting a power error w/ a new PS?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 13, 2009 add one component at a time to find the problem maker. add the CPU first, if the PSU works, then the next step would be RAM.
McGeeZy
add one component at a time to find the problem maker. add the CPU first, if the PSU works, then the next step would be RAM. The CPU only test was a failed attempted... Same result. Is it safe to say the CPU is the problem? I didn't know u could boot without the RAM as a test, learned something new. So now I'm going to buy a new CPU.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 14, 2009 The board should turn on and just beeps at you if there is no CPU, RAM, or video card, but it shouldn't shutdown or restart. If just the board alone turns on and does not shutdown, but shuts down/restart after adding just the CPU, then I would suggest you to look into the CPU. McGeeZy
Update: Power supply works! Ended up buying new mobo & processor. Tired of dealing with the problem and it wasn't the power supply. Thanks for your help RamGuy!
