reverend-dash
On support case: Tech Support Express Case [1007274 RMA #RMA # 1111377 For: CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory with Airflow Fan Model TR3X6G1866C7GTF G - Retail I got a replacement fan kit that I've spent 2 hours trying to get to fit , and I surrender! It's Corsair's part number CMXAF2. And...it's got blue colored logos on the side. I'm 90% sure that the one I sent back has the Dominator GT red logos. There's NO WAY this is going to work. It just will *NOT* fit.....period. I (only) suspect all this trouble, and I got the wrong fan kit. Would a moderator or a very knowledgeable Corsair Fan please verify this...and then we go on to the next post. BSOD's caused by memory that was unseated (we only guess, so far) and I'm only showing 4GB with all 3) X 2GB sticks switched around. This new i7 build is only a month old, and my first use of Corsair products. HELP! PLEASE? :soapbox: THESE CORSAIR Issues are DRIVING ME CER-AZYYYY
reverend-dash
 This stuff.....CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory with Airflow Fan Model TR3X6G1866C7GTF G - Retail is driving me nuts. BSOD's out the ying yang started early this week. The cause, (have already sent and received ...wrong one pretty sure): Defective Memory, and/or defective cooling fan kits! I'm only showing in Vista 64 bit Ultimate, 4GB and I have switched the 3) X 2GB sticks all over the place. This is my 1st Corsair use. How does a person tell which one it IS, please? I'm semi-familiar with memtest from another vendor. That being said (dang Holidays and failures during ), any advice would be greatly appreciated! This is one of the only frapping holidays I get to game, etc.....and I'm fubared. :beenrippe Any Help available around here.....pretty please? 24/7 my hind end! Wired
Test one stick at a time in the same slot using Memtest86+ v2.11 with the speed / timings / voltage on the label. If each stick passes in the same slot, then it isn't the memory. Test the other slots to see if one is bad. If they pass, then it's the memory controller. As for the fan, there's only one fan for the triple kits, but yes, it does come in two colors. Are you able to tell why it is not fitting correctly? reverend-dash
Thanks for the reply wired. What if I can't boot *into* Vista 64 bit with only one stick? The darned bsods start all over again, and I'm right back where I started from, when the memory (Yes....I'm only guessing at this point) failed? This shouldn't happen on a $2000 build that's been in service less than 8 weeks. Normally it takes me at least 6 months to destroy a computer. This one....................hurt$. :bomb:
Synthohol
you dont boot into an OS when running memtest. you test 1 stick at a time in the mfg recommended slot for 1 stick of ram (usually the closest to the CPU but check your manual anyway.) with a boot disk you create with the memtest .ISO disable legacy USB before the test and certainly reset the BIOS before you do anything. initially with the first stick set the voltage and timings to 1.65v 7-8-7-20-2T I wish you luck and high frame rates :):

Hit there, When i did installing my core i7-975 system with 12GB dominator DDR3 i've got the same problem. The golden contact-pins of the ram must be softly cleaned with some cloth. A little strike with some clean cloth is enough and the DDR3 Dimms will work. They are very critical for human fingerfat.. one touch of fat is enough for malfunction...never had this problem before with all other ram. Hope it works for you to.. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 24, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 24, 2009 Using a pencil eraser to clean the contacts will be the best and for sure if you are having that problem test the modules one at a time and I would suggest using XMP rather than setting the timings manually!
