thefrozenc
Hi kinda new to this computer stuff but I won a i7920 processor and intel DX58SO motherboard in a contest, so I figured I would build my first desktop. But after ordering some TR3X6G1600C9 ram I read in the motherboard manual that it only supports ram up to 1333mhz, which is weird cuz the motherboard box lists 1600mhz support. Also the manual states that ram running at greater than 1.6v could damage the processor. The corsair ram I got is 1.65v and 1600mhz, so I'm wondering if it is going to work or if it will fry my stuff or shorten processor life. Will the ram automatically just clock down to 1333mhz or do I have to go into the bios and change the voltage and speed? If so, I have never even been in the bios of anything so dumbed down instructions are needed. Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 6, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 6, 2009 Just get the latest BIOS and then load setup defaults and then enable XMP to Profile one should be all you have to do!
