Hellser
This has been driving me and my older brother insane. He built a new system with an 730i motherboard, ordering 2 4GB-kits from newegg; Corsair XMS2 2048 6400C5. One in each 4 slots, making up 8GB. His computer goes into a constant reboot -- not even showing the POST. But it will start with two 2GB sticks in, but not all four. I tried increasing the voltage and nothing. I called EVGA -- the company that made the motherboard -- and they said to call Corsair for the timings at 2.0v.. and thats why I'm here. That said, I tested the four ram chips in my computer (610i) and they run fine. I know I need to increase or decrease the timings, but I'd like to have the timings to get all 4 2GB chips running. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 30, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 30, 2009 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
marchwarden
I, too, am having this problem. I tried the values list in "RAM GUY"'s reply. but I may have misunderstood part of the reply. I read "NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts" as set this voltage as 1.2 volts, but Iam now thinking that RAM GUY may have meant to add .2 volts to the "auto" value. Did he mean to add .2 volts or did I miss the real meaning? I have returned everything back to auto and am currently using only two sticks of ram. I would truly appreciate any help. This is actually my first build, and I will admit that I am not very knowledgeable about RAM settings. If you know any sources that I should read please include them as well. Thanks for any advise and help.
Synthohol
yes, +.2 Volts means default voltage +.2v

marchwarden
I've tried the settings suggested and no joy. I have also tried the all the possible configurations of ram voltage and chipset voltage possible (without going into the red setting, which I assume are over voltage) also with no luck. I didn't change the latency settings of 5-5-5-18 because (being a noob) I have no real idea what values to use (or how to find out). I don't want to overclock the system too much because I want it to be a HTPC. I am relativly sure the memory is okay as I was able to use all 8 Gigs before I put a GeForce GTX 280 into the system. However when I put the 280 in the system I had to remove half the ram to to get the system to boot up. I can use any combimnation of the ram as long as it doesn't exceed 4 Gigs. I know I've been rambling but I figure you may need to know some of this info to have any chance to figure out what is going on. Any help would be appreciated. Wired
Is this two pairs, or one quad kit? If the former, what version numbers are each pair?
