buttes
Meaning, I am pulling my hair out here. I have a 123-yw-E175 mobo, which originally had some ******** ram that I had talked into running at 800 mhz for stability. This has worked for months and months, until this morning when one of the modules went bad. I decided to buy some new memory and upgrade in the process - 2 4 gig kits, each with cgm2x2g800 g memory sticks. I have set them up as 5-5-5-18 in the bios, and forced them to run at 1.8v. I have also told the bios to run everything auto, which sets the voltage at 1.9v but doesn't change anything else, and the same thing happens: I have vista 64 on it. It boots, but about 5 minutes into being up the computer locks up. Note that I have reset the cmos and tried this cold and it still locks up. I'm at my wits end here. I've tried running in pairs, different pairs, and exactly the same thing happens. It doesn't happen when I use the old ******** stuff that isn't bad, it runs fine - heeeelp. I'm almost bald here.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 26, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 26, 2009 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. And to be sure one module is not failing you may have to reset the MB BIOS and then load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
buttes
When I underclock to 667 the system is mostly stable, but memtest locks after finding errors on 2 sticks, meaning both kits are bad. I'm going to take the ram back today. I'm not liking the statistics on this memory so far. :(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 30, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 30, 2009 That would suggest some other problem can you test them in another MB?
