Tekken_War
Hi Ramguy, I own this memory (CM2X1024-5400C4PRO) between 1-2 years max. I also own a CM2X512-5400C4PRO(3-4 years). I found out the problem while I tried to reformat my PC using Windows 7. At first I tried with CM2X1024-5400C4PRO and every time I tried either it crash or failed the installation. Then I tried using only CM2X512-5400C4PRO, the Windows 7 install like a charm. So I redid the test using memtest86 to conclude if it was the CM2X1024-5400C4PRO and the results show lots of errors. So I'm wondering if I can RMA my CM2X1024-5400C4PRO. Thx
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 16, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 16, 2009 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
Tekken_War
Hi Ramguy, I followed your instructions. My ram setting during the test is 4-4-4-12 with ECC disabled. CM2X1024-5400C4PRO ------------------------ Stick #1: Test time: ~1 hour 45 mins. 672 errors Stick #2: Test time: ~1 min. 3600 errors+ ------------------------ So I think there is a big problem on stick #2 but still getting errors on stick #1. So what should i do? P.S. It can't be my motherboard problem. I used the same procedure with another set of ram CM2X512-5400C4PRO and 0 errors. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 17, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 17, 2009 Getting errors on both modules would suggest some other problem, did you set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and did you have legacy USB Disabled?
Tekken_War
Yes I did. USB legacy disabled + it's already set to 2.0 volt. Edit: I didn't save the change by setting 2.0 volt. But the problems still occurs. Stick #1: After I let it pass 2 test, i only get 2 errors. ~40 mins. Stick #2: ~1 min i got ~1700 errors. So still getting errors...
