Sméagol
Hi, I'll be building my first PC this month, and I'm itching to order the parts, but since I'm new at this, I had a lot of reading up to do, and I came across I7's problem with 6 modules of fast memory. With a disappointed face I scrapped those dominator 1866 sets from my wishlist.. But then I see various reports of 12 GB operating at speeds higher than Intel's official limit, and I realized Corsair itself is selling 12 GB sets @ 1600 mHz.. But since those Dominator modules look so much cooler.. Am I safe with: 2 x TR3X6G1600C8D? I can't find a real concrete confirmation of this, but from what I understand, it is inadvisable to go beyond 1600 mHz, am I correct? Again, this will be my first computer built from scratch, I don't have much experience with hardware, there won't be any OC'ing (perhaps a slight CPU OC in the future when I'm confident enough), I don't want to change any advanced bios settings, and I'd just like to plug the modules in and have them operate at their designated speeds.. If necessary, the motherboard is more than likely to be an Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5. Thanks in advance!
Wired
ONLY the 12 GB sold together are guaranteed at those speeds.
..AlLkNoWinG..
If you are going for performance then its best to go with just one set and going with the Dominator series as you have so much more options for improvement (Extra Accessories for Dominator Modules), but if you want more memory then go with the guaranteed set 12G kit by corsair which is: HX3X12G1600C9
