mal168
I just installed a new hx620W on my old p4 system. I notice the power supply gets extremely warm, it also warms up the computer case where the PSU is located. Is that normal? I had a 350W PSU in the case before and it was never this warm. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 3, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 3, 2009 The PSU may be warmer in some systems than others. The fan on our PSU will spin very slowly in order to keep the noise level down. If the old PSU had a fast spinning fan it may have been helping to keep the system a little cooler. I would try mounting the PSU outside of the case and see if the PSU still gets as warm as when its mounted inside.
loboracing
I have the same issue, altho I wouldnt say that it ran warm, I would say it is running downright HOT. I have been using this power supply for over a year and it has always ran very hot. It runs hot enough that the rear top of my case is uncomfortable to touch. Now that I decided to look into it, when I get home from work, I will Raytek the power supply case and post the temperature. I suspect that the fan is not ramping up in response to temperature.
