Pena47
Hi, I have a problem with my CPU overheating, and I noticed that the EPS/ATX12V 8-4 pin on my corsair 850tx is slightly different than the connection into which it is plugged. Here's a picture of what it would ideally look like http://i42.tinypic.com/e63ct0.jpg However, the four rightmost pins are "rounded". It still plugs in, but could this be the cause of the overheating? the motherboard is an EVGA E758, CPU is an intel i7 920. Here is an attempt of a diagram of the 8 pins on my PSU: OXOO XOOO On the motherboard itself, the connection looks like this: OXXO XOOX Where X = square, and O = rounded/bevelled Note again that it can still plug in (rounded fits into square), but my CPU is overheating and I was not sure if this could be an issue. Thanks for the help.
Wired
The shape will not cause overheating.
Pena47
So the cable is in fact compatible with the motherboard?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 2, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 2, 2009 So the cable is in fact compatible with the motherboard? 100% compatible. There is no official ATX standard for an 8-pin 12v CPU connector so 4 of the pins are rounded for maximum compatibility across all the motherboards out there.
