LeoBloom.
Hi, I have an xps 720 from dell. They sent me 4 sticks of 1GB Corsair ram (1G,800M,128X64,240,EPP) 2.20V ver1.2. This morning I tried turning on my computer and it seemed as if there were memory errors while the diagnostic lights were lit and the fan kept going. I went through the memory sticks one by one booting up the PC, and only 2 of the 4 worked. It seems similar to these two threads: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=72244&highlight=xps+720 http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=78225 I want to know how could 2 sticks fail at once and is there any way to test it, should I run any further tests on the two sticks or should I just RMA them? Also is it possible to RMA directly with Corsair, I think that the products Dell sells me arent quite top notch anymore.

Yellowbeard
Ooops, you did wait 24 hrs, my mistake. RAM GUY will still get to your post soon. I'll nudge him.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 4, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 4, 2009 I am sorry but they seem to be OEM Dell only parts and would only have Dell's warranty, please contact Dell for service. Only parts that have a Corsair retail part number will have our lifetime warranty.
LeoBloom.
Arg, that is unfortunate. I guess there is nothing I could do to fix these things, the only thing left for them is the garbage bin?

LeoBloom.
Nah, what happened was that the computer broke down a month before their 1 year warranty expired. The new computer they sent me, with the corsair sticks essentially had no warranty.
Yellowbeard
I'd suggest contacting their Technical Support and/or Customer Service. Since you had problems within the original warranty period, that may have some bearing on replacement. Good luck and let us know how it works out. LeoBloom.
The issue has no relation. They sent me a refurbished computer with supposedly new corsair sticks. Despite the fact that I've been having problems with this model, I tried to see if I could get the sticks replaced by Dell but they won't budge heh. thanks for helping
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 4, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 4, 2009 I am sorry about but the part number is what we have to go by and the part number they use is not in our system.
LeoBloom.
It wouldn't be possible to replace with something similar? My part number is CM2X1024-8500C5D; its not explicitly written on the stick but cpu-z tells me that.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 9, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 9, 2009 I am sorry but I cannot make that decision, I am only a tech support person, I would suggest calling Dell first and see what they say or talk to our customer service if you like but I suspect they will say the same as what I have already stated. But if you want to call them; 510-657-8747 or 888-222-4346 Ext "3".
LeoBloom.
Apparently Corsair now replaces Dell sticks as well. I spoke to a rep and she is going to replace them with Twin2X2048-8500C5Ds. Yay!

freakyreef
Very interesting, I have the exact same problem. Bought an XPS 720, had problems so just before my warranty expired they sent me a "new" computer. Now 3 out of 4 1-GB sticks are dead. CPU-z also gives me the same number as yours CM2X1024-8500C5D. Guess I'll call and see what happens.

freakyreef
Gotta tell you, tech support with Corsair is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Dell. I called, explained the situation and an RMA was issued almost instantly. Kudos to Corsair! Thanks
