captianZ
Hi, I am experiencing this weird issue when I shutdown normally from Vista 64: I can see the power/activity led switchign off, but all Fans (PSU/ case front and side/CPU) keep running. I know some smart PSU would do that for a few minutes after shutdown (fan delay cooldown) to get rid of all excessive heat in the case, so I waited, but it was still running the next morning... I monitored my temps and they are all normal before I shutdown: GPU at 40C, CPU at 38C. Power button doesnt respond in that state. reset button would switch off fan for a few seconds, then they would restart. I have to stay on power for 4 seconds, then all shutdown normally, and I can restart normally as well with power button. Now a pattern here: it would not happen until I had some extended play session (playing Riddick with pretty everything maxed on 30", getting GPU at 70C, CPU at 60C). If I dont play, shutdown works. I wonder if it could be a SmartFan bug... when I ever go through the 60C SmartFan threashold maybe... I will try disabling it. Has anyone exprienced this ? I hope it is not hardware related (PSU or MB) and can be solved by software. Thank you for any input, -CZ
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 2, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 2, 2009 If you boot up and enter the BIOS and then hold down the power button on the front of the case until the system shuts down, are you able to duplicate the same issues? captianZ
Hi, If I press the power switch while in bios, the whole PC shutdown immediately (it is setup like that in the bios). All fans stop as well. Full clean shutdown. I experimented a little bit and it may have been related to Vista Power Options. Even though set for high performance, I checked the advanced options, and the start menu power button option was set to sleep. I set it to shutdown and havnt had the issue since. It is still weird that the popup saying explicitely "shutdown" (not the red shutdown icon) would be affected by that as well... At least my problem seem to be solved. Thank you. -CZ
