czm
Hi I seem to be having a few issues running my XMS3 TW3X4G4096-1800C8DF in my Rampage extreme mobo, and qx9650. I am trying to get my RAM stable but having a few issues. I have: Extreme Tweaker Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual OC From Memory Level Up: Auto FSB Frequency: 450 CPU Ratio Setting: 7 CPU Configuration C1E Support: Disabled CPU TM Function: Enabled Max CPUID Value Limit: Disabled Vanderpool Technology: Enabled Execute Disable Bit: Enabled Core Multi-Processing: Enabled CPU Clock Skew: Auto NB Clock Skew: Auto FSB Strap to North Bridge: 333 PCIE Frequency: 100 DRAM Frequency: 1441Mhz DRAM Command Rate: 2N DRAM Timing Control: Manual 1st Information: 8-8-8-21-5-74-10-5 CAS# Latency:8 RAS# to CAS# Delay: 8 RAS# Pre Time: 8 RAS# ACT Time: 24 RAS# To RAS# Delay: AUTO REF Cycle Time: AUTO WRITE Recovery Time: AUTO READ to Pre Time: AUTO 2nd Information :9-5-6-4-7-4-7 READ to WRITE Delay (S/D): AUTO WRITE to READ Delay (S): AUTO WRITE to READ Delay (D): AUTO READ to READ (S): AUTO READ to READ (D): AUTO WRITE to WRITE (S): AUTO WRITE to WRITE (D): AUTO 3RD Information: 21-7-1-9-9 WRITE to PRE Delay: AUTO READ to PRE Delay: AUTO PRE to PRE Delay: AUTO ALL PRE to ACT Delay: AUTO ALL PRE to REF Delay: AUTO DRAM Static Read Control: disabled DRAM Dynamic Write Control: disabled DRAM Skew Control DRAM CMD Skew on Channel A: Auto DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM A1: Auto DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM A2: Auto DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM A1: Auto DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM A2: Auto DRAM CMD Skew on Channel B: Auto DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM B1: Auto DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM B2: Auto DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM B1: Auto DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM B2: Auto Ai Clock Twister: Lighter Ai Transaction Booster: Manual Common Performance Level: 10 Pull-In of CHA PH1: Disabled Pull-In of CHA PH2: Disabled Pull-In of CHA PH3: Disabled Pull-In of CHB PH1: Disabled Pull-In of CHB PH2: Disabled Pull-In of CHB PH3: Disabled EPU II Phase Control: Auto CPU Voltage: 1.31 Load-Line Calibration: Enabled CPU PLL Voltage: 1.5 FSB Termination Voltage: 1.41 CPU GTLVerf (0): AUTO CPU GTLVerf (1): AUTO CPU GTLVerf (2): AUTO CPU GTLVerf (3): AUTO NB GTLVerf: AUTO North Bridge Voltage: 1.42 DRAM Voltage: 1.85 NB DDRVref: AUTO DDR3 ChannelA Vref: AUTO DDR3 ChannelB Vref: AUTO South Bridge 1.5 Voltage: 1.51106 South Bridge 1.05 Voltage: 1.06039 CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled I am a bit unsure about the GTL refs etc which I am sure is my issue..however not knowing too much about them I am unsure what to change to try to get stable. I have been able to run memtest no worries at these settings @ 1350Mhz. As this ram is rated at 1800 i would have thought I would be stable at 1441Mhz but fail memtest within 10 mins everytime. Again in need of more tweaking which it where yu guys come in I have the CPU running at stock as I have dropped the multi to keep that out of the picture -and have run Intel Burn test and Prime and the CPU is stable. Where should I start?

czm
I have tried using the XMP profile but I cannot even boot with that selected. I would have thought that that the XMP profile would at least work:evil:
czm
Ok that lack of help maybe because the tread has got a little confusing. To go back and hopefully clear it up a bit in the hope that some support from Corsair will come my way. I ahve included below a couple of screenies that I currently have fully stable and the max i can get out of my RAM. As you can see I have kept the FSB at 400 because the RAM beocmes unstable no matter what I try on anything over 1600Mhz. The ram is rated at 1800Mhz so that is what is getting to me. I run the CPU at 450FSB and clocked the RAM down and done all the usual stress test and it passes no problem so I know my Mobo/CPU are comfortable running @ 450FSB ( I even managed to get a stable FSB of 465). So my theory is the RAM is the issue when trying to get 1800MHZ. I have tried tweaking the DRAM clock skews etec etc but nothing seems to help getting anything over 1600Mhz I am using A2/B2 slots http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/Untitled-29.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/Untitled1-5.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/P6030269.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/P6030270.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/P6030271.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/P6030272.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/P6030273.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/crazymilk_01/P6030274.jpg
Yellowbeard
When you are running Memtest, are you disabling USB Legacy Support? Memtest conflicts with this setting. Latest Memtest: http://www.memtest.org Also, in the past, to run the speeds you are attempting, I have needed approximately 1.4v - 1.45v on the CPU voltage. czm
Thanks for thr reply specmike. Yes I disable the USB Leg support....however The CPU does not seem to be the issue. I have underclocked the CPU with the 450FSB to make sure that it is stable (Prime and Intel Burn Test Stable). I have the QX quad with the unlocked multi so its no problem to do. ie I have run the CPU at 450x7 = 3150 which is rock solid as long as I clock the RAM below 1600Mhz using the divivders. As soon as I try to increase the RAM to the rated 1800Mhz that when I get the issues. As I mentioned its the RAM that I think is the issue when trying to run at its rated 1800Mhz (ie 450FSB with 1:2 divider) hence why I am in the Corsair forums. Yellowbeard
If you are confident the CPU is stable running a 450FSB, then that leaves the memory or the memory controller. If the memory is passing Memtest at the slower speeds it's not likely defective per se. When you were testing, did you try 1 module at a time? czm
No I am pretty sure that the RAM is not defective as I can pass memtest 24hrs + up to 1600Mhz I think that it is a problem with the Samsung Chips and the X48 Chipset

czm
No Sorry. I tested with both sticks. As I said as I could pass 1600Mhz I assumed that the sticks were OK.
