AngusM
I need some info direct from the horses' mouth before I speak to the vendors about my memory set-up - for the Asus P6T deluxe mobo to have 12 gig, your Memory Configurator came up with - the HX3X12G1333C9 Module --- The XMS Series TR3X6G1333C9 is a 12288 MByte kit of DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs --- The 12 gig memory supplied with my system was stated on the invoice as - (Cut and pasted here) Corsair 12GB DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz XMS3 TwinX Tri Channel Kit (6x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9) Corsair 4GB DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz XMS3 TwinX Dual Channel Kit (2x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9) Corsair 4GB DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz XMS3 TwinX Dual Channel Kit (2x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9) Corsair 4GB DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz XMS3 TwinX Dual Channel Kit (2x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9) (and this is why it's in my profile) but - examining the modules they actually sent and which we installed, they are labelled as CM3X2G1333C9 have I got the wrong ram? I've had problems with the Bios only seeing 8 gig of ram (nb - on Vista 64) and am about to return one matched pair that had a module that was not recognised in any slot by the bios after a lot of switching modules around - I have to assume it's bad or incompatible in some way. If I am to change one pair, will I need to change the whole lot anyway, since it came in a complete 12 gig kit? Also - the motherboard manual is ambiguous (I've read it several times) about exactly which slots the matched pairs have to go into. A clear instruction about that would be great. Wired
TW3X4G1333C9 is a pre-tested pair of CM3X2G1333C9, so you did get what they sold you. However, 3 packs of TW3X4G1333C9 DOES NOT make a HX3X12G1333C9 kit. They may have sold you 12 GB of memory, but it's not a 12 GB kit. I'd return that memory and insist on getting a HX3X12G1333C9 kit. AngusM
So, to be sure here - the line in the invoice where they say - Corsair 12GB DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz XMS3 TwinX Tri Channel Kit (6x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9) is factually incorrect in claiming it's a Tri-channel kit - and these three paired sets are not actually tested and synced as a 12 gig batch set (they were advertised as a 12 gig set on the vendor's web site). Thanks for the reply. I'll have to put this to them on tuesday and cite this comment - after the holiday weekend here in the UK A PS There isn't a link to somewhere on Corsair's web tech pages that I could point them to that would explain the tech (or sales?) aspects to this is there?
