fdisk
I recently bought a brand new HX620W (from newegg) and noticed that the PSU fan never spins up. At first I thought I got a bad PSU or just a bad PSU fan. However, I started googling around and read several threads on various forums where people started mentioning that the fan is thermally controlled or controlled by the load and that some hadn't even had their fans spin up in months without problems. So I thought maybe it was not supposed to spin up right away. It's now a couple days later and I've been using my new PC to do all sorts of things, including gaming, but the fan hasn't moved at all. I haven't had any power or other issues at all despite the fan not moving. The thing I'm afraid of is I'm going to have to send in the (working, minus the fan part) PSU to get a replacement or get it repaired, and that means I'll be stuck with an inoperable PC (that I use for work). :(: What are my options or is there something I can/should do to fix it without sending it in? Wired
2 options: RMA it with the store, see if they have an advanced exchange. RMA it with Corsair, and after you get the RMA # call Customer Service and see if they do advanced exchanges. It's not a normal part of the RMA process. fdisk
Interesting... I checked on my PSU fan today after playing a game for awhile, and lo and behold it was spinning, although at a slow rate. Maybe it's not defective after all :o:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 27, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 27, 2009 The fan should always be spinning, although most of the time it will spin very slowly. If at any time the fan stops spinning then we would want to get the unit replaced for you. You can use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
