jari
In both Windows XP and Linux symptoms are the same: 1. Plug in 2. Os starts to seach the drive 3. Os finds it 4. Drive disconnects 5. loop from 2 to 4 starts to happen. Part was RMA part for broken part and it was working fine but after I did not use it for a month the above problem appeared. I tried instructions from http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62742 without success. I managed to delete the partition from stick using the instructions but creating partition from fdisk resulted stick disconnecting while fdisk was checking the partition (did not even pass 0%). Diagnostics from Linux kernel (2.6.29.4) say before fdisk operation: May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 30 May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=1b1c, idProduct=0ab1 May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: Product: Flash Voyager May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: Manufacturer: Corsair May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: SerialNumber: 5ec08d702bf6eb May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice May 22 13:01:03 dumbo klogd: scsi32 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: scsi 32:0:0:0: Direct-Access Corsair Flash Voyager 0.00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] 126353408 512-byte hardware sectors: (64.6 GB/60.2 GiB) May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] 126353408 512-byte hardware sectors: (64.6 GB/60.2 GiB) May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off May 22 13:01:08 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through May 22 13:01:09 dumbo klogd: sdb: sdb1 May 22 13:01:09 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk May 22 13:01:09 dumbo klogd: sd 32:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 May 22 13:01:13 dumbo klogd: usb 1-3: USB disconnect, address 30 May 22 13:01:13 dumbo klogd: scsi 32:0:0:0: rejecting I/O to dead device May 22 13:01:13 dumbo last message repeated 2 times May 22 13:01:13 dumbo klogd: scsi 32:0:0:0: [sdb] READ CAPACITY failed May 22 13:01:13 dumbo klogd: scsi 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Result: hostbyte=DID_NO_CONNECT driverbyte=DRIVER_OK,SUGGEST_OK May 22 13:01:13 dumbo klogd: scsi 32:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense not available. This is the second time that stick has broken without false usage... Is there any way to salvage the part?
