Digital Dreams
Currently running 6Gb of TR3X6G1600C8D at default settings (cas 8)....I have two trains of thought....Increase to 12GB and keep current speed and/or increase speed (without unreliable overclocking). 1. Increasing to 12GB for raytracing large scenes and BIG image manupulation. I have noticed here that others have managed to keep the clock at 1600 & cas at 8 even though filling all 6 slots with the above. Can I rely on that or will I probably have to reduce the clock speed to 1333 and/or cas to 9 ? 2. Upgrade to TR3X6G2000C8GTF. I'd guess one 6GB kit of this would run faster than the TR3X6G1600C8D at 1600??, maybe cas7 ?. What does the SPD of this 2000 ram say for 1600 ?. I spend a lot of time waiting for scenes to render. Would I also have a better guarantee of cas8 (even 7 ?)with 12GB of this ?. Would be nice to try TR3X6G2000C8GTF and hand back if it provided no benefit at 1600 :sunglasse Regards

Regards Hi. Did you ever get an answer to your question? What did you end up doing? I'm thinking about building an X58 system with "just" 6 GB for now, and then adding another 6 GB if I think I could boost performance, but I would not want to give up any overclock settings.
Wired
Moved out of the enthusiast area. They can't guarantee 2 packs of memory (or ICs) will play well with each other.
Dallanar
They have a new kit coming someday soon I am hopiing that is matched. It is the CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 12 Gig and it uses the DHX technology if you plan on watercooling the RAM. I have my cooler just waiting on the kit to become available which I hope is soon seeing as they released the 8 Gig kit for the i5.
