Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 11, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 11, 2009 Both of those parts are essentially the same, the CGM parts are available through resellers like Best Buy, while the VS parts are primarily available from online vendors. With that said I would probably go for 4GB of memory, even though your 32-bit system may not be able to use all 4GB (usually you will end up with around 3.25GB). With 2 matched 2GB modules you will have the best chances of compatibility and should get the best performance by running in dual channel.
alucard_uae
thanks for the fast response. what the differences between them, because both of them are CAS 5-5-5-18. then why CGM2X2GS800 is for gaming as it says in there site?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 12, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 12, 2009 The main difference is where they are being sold; performance and compatibility would be virtually identical. There may be subtle differences in the IC thats being used or the way the parts are programmed, but this would not effect the performance or reliability of the part.
