mach
I bought an Abit kv8-max3 and athlon 64 3000. I am using corsair value select VS512MB400 512mb, and it wont boot, won't even go into bios. I think it is a memory incompatibility issue or a defective motherboard. Any help?
CandyKid
Welcome to the forums, mach! Do you get any error messages/beeps, etc? What does happen when you boot it? PLUR CK
mach
I get a beep about every 5 seconds, and the debug led says 0.4. (a code thats not in the manual). The screen stays blank (monitor says 'no signal').
CandyKid
Have you got a friend's memory module that you can try in the board? That module you have should be compatable! On second thought, you could also try your VS module in their system to check it too! PLUR CK
mach
Ok, so I lift the mobo out of the case so I can run it as a bare bones setup (cpu, video, and memory only). Still doesn't work with either of the Corsair modules. So I swap a kingston module from my other comp in and it works fine! I think to myself 'must be a bad corsair module'. But I decide to try it once more with the corsair and it works fine! I have no idea what was wrong (maybe memory wasn't correctly seated, but i took it out a couple of times) anyway, I really happy that it works now. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 21, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 21, 2004 Probably so, but to make sure I would test the modules one at a time with www.memtest86.com and they should be in slots 1-3 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts.
