gscott
I had one bad stick of my cm2x2048-6400C5, returned and replaced under Case #920674. Installed replacement memory, worked fine for an hour then BSOD. Messages like Page_fault_in_non_paged_area and IRQL_Not_less_or_equal. Can't even boot in safe mode (win xp SP3). Changed ram to other pair slots, worked about an hour - same deal. Removed RAM, replaced with old 2x256. Works fine again. Sure would be nice to be able to use all this RAM I bought! (according to Dell this is correct RAM for Dimension 4700)
Wired
The Dell Dimension 4700 is not listed on the Corsair Configurator, but I doubt any XMS memory would be compatible with it. What's your service tag?
gscott
service tag - 2j7r571 I checked before I purchased, and just again. Dell recommends the TWIN2X2048-6400 (among others) Why shouldn't I be able to use the TWIN2X4096-6400? Before, I was able to run the one good (2GB) stick with no problem, but sent the pair back to Corsair. Now seems different problem. Thank you. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 24, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 24, 2009 TWIN2X4096-6400 modules are rated at 1.8 Volts and as long as your system support DDR800 they may work, but Twin2x2048-6400 Require 1.9 Volts and would not be compatible with any OEM system. What does it say on the modules for Voltage?
gscott
OK, the RAM I have are marked CM2x2048-6400C5 1.80v ver 2.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 24, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 24, 2009 We do not have that system listed on our memory configurator and the information I can find on your system suggested it would only use 1.0 Gig modules and they have to be made with 64 M X 8 memory IC's and currently we are building that part with 128 M X 8IC's
gscott
OK, so your are saying: 1) I bought the wrong memory, and 2) Corsair does not make memory I can use. Funny I was able to use one 2GB stick without problems. I want that stick back! Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 24, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 24, 2009 I am saying that the most likely reason you are having a problem is yes you purchased the wrong memory but I cannot confirm that because I have no information on your system. We test all of our modules on a mother board before they leave our factory so it is close to impossible to have that many bad modules and there must be some other issue...
