joeladam02
OK. I know the answer to that question. But I don't mean it how it sounds. Basically I bought an HX1000w and it worked well for about 3-4 months. then I started getting random blue screens. And then about a month later it wouldn't POST my mobo. And then when I tried it in a different outlet it just died all together. I have heard somewhere that running a PSU at much lower wattage than they are spec'd for may cause it to run inefficiently and get damaged. Now, I have gone through the RMA process and should be receiving my new PSU soon. My question is this: Will running a PSU at too low of power load cause damage? Far as I can tell, my system is only pulling a max of maybe 450-500 watts at maximum load. Is this too low of a power draw for the HX1000 to run efficiently? Can this cause strain on the monster PSU? Or is this a myth? Can someone shine some light on this? I really don't want another one to fail on me. Thanks in advance.
joeladam02
I'm about 5 mins away from buying an 800 watt Mushkin now instead of keeping the Corsair...

The PSU should operate just fine regardless of the load, so if anything, I would suspect your faulty unit was a fluke, The replacement unit should resolve your problems, as long as it was indeed the PSU causing them to begin with.
